Growing Perry girls youth wrestling program set for first state tournament

PERRY TWP. — It's a chilly night in February at the Perry High School Wellness Center. Despite the temperatures outside hovering near single digits, you'll probably find fewer warmer rooms in the county than the wrestling room where the Perry girls youth wrestling team is preparing for the first Ohio Youth Wrestling Association Girls State Tournament on Feb. 22. The sweltering swimming-pool like atmosphere is made only more intense by mats packed with youth wrestlers of all ages working through drills under a full staff of coaches who are quick to step in and help the young wrestlers improve technique.
