Adams, Penn ride hot starts to sectional semifinal wins

MISHAWAKA — Fast starts were the name of the game for both the South Bend Adams and Penn girls basketball teams en route to dominating sectional semifinal wins Friday, Feb. 6. The Eagles rode their fine first quarter to a convincing 48-32 win over city rival South Bend Riley in the first semifinal of the Class 4A Penn Sectional. Then, the No. 12-ranked and overwhelming sectional favorite Kingsmen once again looked the part as they rolled to a quick and commanding lead from the opening tipoff to down LaPorte 56-28 in the second semifinal contest.
