Wide open race looms for Region boys basketball Player of the Year

Everyone knew it was going to be a year of transition for Monroe County Region boys basketball. Eight of the 15 players on last year’s All-Region team graduated. Three others did not return – two because of transfers out of the Region and another who decided to concentrate on football training. That left Jefferson’s Trey Oldenburg, Aidyn Stahr of Airport, Summerfield’s Brody St. John and Landon Tallady of Milan as the only returning All-Region players. That quartet has played well. St. John leads the Region with an average of 20.9 points per game and Talladay ranks third at 16.3. Stahr (12.7) and Oldenburg (12.6) rank high on the list.
