Bollywood filmmaker Hansal Mehta started his career with the television show Khana Khazana (1993 2000). Additionally, he directed several television series, including Amrita (1994), Highway (1995), Yaadein (1995), Lakshya (1998), Neeti (1998), and many more. He made his debut as a feature film director with Jayate, a part of the Indian Panorama 1999 2000 at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Hyderabad. He is well-known for his movies like Aligarh, Shahid, and Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. He recently took a walk through his past, yet it wasn't for a story of success. Marking 25 years since Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar! was released, starring Manoj Bajpayee, Tabu, Saurabh Shukla and Aditya Srivastava in pivotal roles. The director remembered how the film's failure led him to bankruptcy and battles with alcohol addiction.

On Monday, Mehta posted the film's poster on Instagram with a touching message, disclosing that Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar not only failed at the box office but also triggered one of the hardest times in his life.

What went wrong with Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar?

In his heartfelt post, Mehta acknowledged that the film, which started with great potential, went off track due to compromises made under pressure.

"I was reminded that Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar released 25 years ago, and it's a strange, bittersweet feeling," he wrote.

He explained how the project originally started from a sharp, witty, and subversive script written by Saurabh Shukla. "But, under pressure from producers, we had to make changes. It was ironic that a film about greed got destroyed because of greed itself," Mehta revealed.
