Controversy related to The Taj Story

For the unversed, The Paresh Rawal starrer found itself in a storm of legal controversies just before its release. The film was met with two Public Interest Litigations (PILs). The PILs sought to ban the film, as well as review the certification it held. As per the PILs, the film is distorting facts about the Taj Mahal, making false claims about the historical monument made by Shah Jahan. The lead actor, Paresh Rawal, spoke about the issue, mentioning that the film did not intend to make any communal divide and was based on complete research.

Paresh Rawal on the PILs

Rawal, while in a conversation with NDTV, cleared the air regarding the PILs and said, "That PIL wasn't filed to stop the film. They just wanted the judiciary to watch it once. But the film already has a CBFC certificate. Even the judiciary understands all this; they're not foolish. We never intended to create any Hindu-Muslim controversy. Would anyone invest so much money just to create communal trouble? You can cause a riot for far less!"
