EU to send the Action Plan for visa liberalization with Armenia to EU  member states for approval - EU official

ArmInfo. The process of developing the concept of integrated border management (IBM) was on the agenda of the talks between the Deputy Ministers of Internal  Affairs of Armenia Armen Ghazaryan and Armen Mkrtchyan with the  delegation of the Directorate General for Migration and Home Affairs  of the European Commission, headed by the Head of the International  Relations Department Pavel Busyakevich.

As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs  of Armenia, steps aimed at risk assessment, information exchange,  technical modernization and development of human resources were also  discussed.

As a key condition for effective border and migration flow  management, the parties emphasized coordinated and continuous  cooperation between law enforcement and other government agencies.

Reflecting on the modernization of the citizenship granting process,  Ghazaryan emphasized the importance of working on developing a  migration policy strategy.

And Mkrtchyan presented strategies aimed at combating organized  crime, drug trafficking and cybercrime.  Presenting the systemic  reforms of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Deputy Minister  Mkrtchyan also touched upon the achievements recorded in the key  areas of the Police.

Mkrtchyan emphasized the importance of forming the Educational  Complex of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is aimed at both  ensuring continuous training of employees and professional education  of police officers. He added that long-term strategic planning and  development of medium-term actions combining international experience  and needs are being carried out in this direction.

In turn, Busyakevich reported that in the coming days the European  Commission will send the Visa Liberalization Action Plan to EU Member  States for approval. It is expected that the plan will be officially  submitted to the Armenian side in the fall.

During the discussions, the members of the delegation paid attention  to the possibilities of improving the system of protection and  reintegration of victims of human trafficking, as well as witnesses.

At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to  expand cooperation in favor of effective and comprehensive  development of the Armenia-EU partnership. Discussions on the  development of the Visa Liberalization Action Plan with the EU  continue in an active format, including sectoral meetings and  effective cooperation with European partners.

Under the leadership and coordination of the Ministry of Internal  Affairs, in close cooperation with both international partners and at  the interdepartmental level, continuous work is being carried out to  ensure Armenia's progress in the process of visa liberalization and  the implementation of sectoral reforms.
