This actress hailed from a Muslim family in Hyderabad and made her acting debut at the age of 17. She was a part of a big director's popular movie, which was quite a success. In her career, this actress worked with several big stars like Rajesh Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, Dharmendra, Sanjay Dutt, and several others. She is Shabana Azmi's neice and Tabu's elder sister.

She then worked in several hit films lije Imaandaar, Phir Aayegi, Yateem, Marte Dam Tak, Pati Patni aur Tawaif, Khuda Gawah, Amar Prem and seveal others. In an interview, Farah once slapped Chunky Panday on the sets of Kasam Vardi Ki. During the shoot of their 1989 film, Panday played a prank on Farah which she didn't lilke. The actress got angry and slapped him.
