Deva Box Office collection Day 1: Shahid Kapoor’s film takes a slow start, earns only THIS much

Shahid Kapoor's much-awaited film Deva has finally hit theaters, and been successful in generating buzz ever since its trailer was unveiled. While fans have been excited to see Shahid get back to action, the film's music has only added to the excitement. While Shahid delivers an incredible performance, Deva has received a mixed response from viewers. While some have lauded it's gripping action others don't find it convincing. Directed by acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews, Deva marks his Bollywood debut. It is the official adaptation of his 2013 film Mumbai Police.

The film also stars Pooja Hegde in the lead role opposite Shahid Kapoor. Pavail Gulati, Kubbra Sait and others too have pivotal roles to play. Talking about the film's first day at box office, it didn't have a great start. As per reports in Pinkvilla, the movie collected Rs 4.25 crore to Rs 4.75 crore net on its opening day.

This weekend is definitely crucial for the film as it has to get good numbers in order to survive. Shahid's film also faces fierce competition from Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya's Sky Force which has been doing well at the box office. The film has had minimum promotions but is taking in the moolah with positive appreciation.

Sky Force is expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark soon. Shahid's film could not break the opening-day collection of his previous release, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. The popular film featuring Shahid and Kriti Sanon collected Rs 6.50 crore on its opening day. Shahid's Deva has been made on a budget of Rs 85 crores.
