Emission Twin Raises €800K to Accelerate Climate Tech Expansion
Malmö-based climate tech startup Emission Twin (formerly The Ontology Way) has raised € 800.000 (SEK 10 million) in a new funding round to scale its operations and expand its innovative platform for greenhouse gas reduction. The round attracted a mix of existing and new investors, including prominent angel investors, the Helsingborg-based Loop Capital, and the female-focused investment network Octaquest.
Leading the round is Per Hidenius, founder of Hypergene, who not only brings capital but will also take an operational role in the company.
Empowering Businesses with Digital Twins for Climate Action
Emission Twin specializes in creating digital twins for corporate climate data, enabling companies to monitor, simulate, and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Unlike traditional systems, their software goes beyond reporting by allowing users to model the impact of sustainability measures, such as transitioning to renewable energy or altering materials in product manufacturing.
“The value lies in enabling proactive, data-driven decisions to achieve climate goals,”
said Tove Nilstun to Rapidus.
As the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) introduces stricter sustainability reporting requirements, Emission Twin’s solution becomes increasingly critical. With the pressure from EU regulations, companies need tools like these.
Strategic Growth and Inclusion
The funding will be used to strengthen Emission Twin’s marketing and sales teams, with plans to hire a marketer and two sales representatives. The company also aims to further develop its software, incorporating AI support and other functionalities to expand its capabilities.
A Growing Momentum
This funding follows a previous round in which Emission Twin raised SEK 3.6 million, showcasing the continued confidence in the company’s mission and technology. After the latest investment, Tove Nilstun and co-founder Johan Teleman retain 65% ownership.
