Wondering why Shah Rukh Khan's film with Leonardo DiCaprio never happened? Director Paul Schrader breaks silence
Shah Rukh Khan's global popularity is unparallel. His stardom goes beyond any nation or continent. The superstar has millions of fans worldwide, and all of them are because of his movies, performances, interviews, and, well, the way he carries himself. Often, many wondered why an actor of his level never did a Hollywood movie. Well, we would like to inform you that at one point, SRK and Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio were going to collaborate.
Here's why SRK, Leonardo's film got scrapped
Often, we have read that Shah Rukh Khan and Leonardo DiCaprio were going to work in a movie called Xtreme, by Martin Scorsese. Now, director Paul Schrader has opened up on why the project didn't see the light. On the Pod Casty for Me Podcast, Paul revealed that all three of them had an interest in doing the project. They even met in Berlin to discuss the same. Scorsese was going to produce the film but SRK lost interest midway.
Further in this entertainment news, Paul Schrader revealed that Shah Rukh Khan is the boss and he hires directors and sometimes multiple of them. Paul stated how the superstar sometimes hires someone for a musical number or for action and for personal-relationship scenes. "He has never really worked under the harness of an auteur, and that, I could see, was starting to grate on him. And he had never done a film in the West before, and he had never been a second banana to somebody like Leo before," said the Hollywood director.

Paul revealed that the Jawan actor was supposed to play a gangster in the film and Leonardo DiCaprio was an American police officer. They even went to Mumbai to discuss with Shah Rukh Khan, but his commitment went from firm to provisional and eventually Leo did the same. The director said, "Now you have two 'provisional' commitments, which means you have no commitment at all."
