Royal Enfield Scram 440 Unveiled at Motoverse

0

Royal Enfield has officially unveiled the Scram 440 at Motoverse 2024, Goa’s iconic motorcycle and motoring festival. This new scrambler will replace the Scram 411 that was based on the previous Himalayan.

Positioned between adventure touring and city commuting, the Scram 440 caters to riders who seek a balance between rugged styling and practical usability. The motorcycle has received several updates as compared to its predecessor.

Design and Features

The Scram 440 boasts a distinct retro-modern aesthetic, highlighted by its teardrop-shaped tank, raised front mudguard, and minimalistic tail section. The motorcycle features a round LED headlamp, integrated with a cowl that enhances its rugged look. A semi-digital instrument cluster, reminiscent of the Himalayan’s layout, provides essential information while maintaining simplicity.

For additional urban practicality, the Scram 440 includes split-style seats and a sculpted handlebar, designed to offer comfortable ergonomics for city rides and mild off-road excursions. With a kerb weight of 190 kilograms, it retains maneuverability for various terrains.

Performance and Technical Specifications

The Scram 440 is powered by an all-new 440cc single-cylinder engine, which delivers 25 hp and 24 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed transmission.

Key specifications include:

  • Chassis: Dual cradle frame for added stability
  • Suspension: Telescopic front forks and twin rear shocks with preload adjustability
  • Brakes: Dual-channel ABS with disc brakes at both ends
  • Ground Clearance: 200mm, suitable for light off-roading
  • Wheels: 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy or spoked wheels with dual-purpose tyres. Alloy variant gets tubeless tyres
  • Fuel Capacity: 15 liters for extended trips

Launch and Availability

The motorcycle will be launched in January 2025. We anticipate that launch to take place at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. It will be priced a little higher than the current Scram given all the updates. However, the price will be considerably lower than the Himalayan 452.
