About 15% of Yerevan's revenues directed to subsidising public transport - mayor

YEREVAN, 11 November. /ARKA/. About 15% of revenues collected by the capital Yerevan in 2024 have been used to subsidise public transport, Mayor Tigran Avinyan said at a working meeting on Monday.br br
According to him, this year alone the deficit of Yerevan Bus CJSC has grown to 8.5 billion drams, most of which because of the purchase of new buses, modern equipment and its maintenance./divp
Avinyan also called on citizens to realise the importance of the unified ticket system for the modernisation of the public transport system./pp 'The latest acquisition of 171 new buses and 14 new trolleybuses also serves the fulfilment of this task,’ he stressed./pp
Vazgen Harutyunyan, head of the transport department at the Municipality informed that the customs clearance of 171 new buses is going on. As for 14 trolleybuses, he said the process of their customs clearance will start this week./pp
At the same time, the routes on which the new buses and trolleybuses will run are being worked out,’ Harutyunyan said./pp
Earlier, presenting the report on the capital budget in the parliamentary committees, Mayor Avinian said that Yerevan's own revenues in 2024 will make AMD 61 billion 514 million against AMD 38 billion 799 million in 2023./pp
Next year, he said, it is expected to provide revenues of about AMD 90 billion 234 million. In particular, the budget is expected to receive additional subsidies of AMD 9.5 billion, delegated powers of AMD 58 billion, loans and grants of AMD 13.4 billion, state earmarks and subventions of AMD 1 billion 133 million.
