Armenia faction in RA National Assembly to abstain from voting on the  border delimitation commissions between Armenia and Azerbaijan

0

ArmInfo. The opposition Armenia faction in the RA National Assembly will not participate in the discussions and voting on the draft law "On ratification of the Regulations on Joint Activity of the Commissions on Delimitation and  Border Security, signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan." This  decision is outlined in the faction's statement.

The authors of the document note that it is unconstitutional and goes  against the national and state interests of Armenia. The faction  believes that the clearly unconstitutional body (commission), its  leader and officials who support it have been granted illegal powers  to sign international legal documents on behalf of Armenia. These  documents have legal significance and could lead to territorial  changes in the Republic of Armenia without a referendum.

"What happened in the settlements of the Tavush region also opens a  loophole for further unconstitutional processes," the statement  emphasizes, recalling the words of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan  that the actions taken are intended to mitigate the situation, but  war is not ruled out.  "This circumstance, as well as the ongoing  threats of force from military and political figures of Azerbaijan,  the facts of unlawful detention of our compatriots in Azerbaijani  prisons and persistent tortures, were ignored by the political  authorities of Armenia and the Constitutional Court. It goes against  Article 13 of the Constitution and Articles 52-53 of the Vienna  Convention on International Treaty Law, which declare that  international treaties concluded under the use of force or its  pretext, are invalid," the document notes. Based on the above, the  faction will abstain from participating in the discussions and voting  on the proposed document.
