The ‘3+3’ regional platform was initiated in December 2020 by Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Georgia has repeatedly stated its refusal to participate in this initiative, but offered Baku and Yerevan its own format of peacekeeping negotiations - in the form of a ‘troika’./pp
In December 2021, Moscow hosted the first meeting of the consultative regional platform ‘3+3’ co-chaired by the deputy foreign ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey and the Director General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry. It was confirmed that ‘the door is open’ for Georgia to join the platform./pp
The second meeting took place almost two years later, in October 2023 in Tehran (also without Georgian representatives).-0-/p
