Thiessen and Benson also break down why Harris’ attempts to insert herself into the hurricane narrative have been a disaster in terms of optics. Thiessen had this to say on why Nikki Haley would be a useful asset to Donald Trump when speaking to independents:

“And so what if there was somebody out there who shared their concerns about Trump but has decided to support him anyway and could make the case for why she decided to do that? That person exists. Her name is Nikki Haley. She ran against Donald Trump because of all those concerns that they have.”
