YEREVAN, October 8. /ARKA/. Armenian Prosecutor General's Office said today it demands confiscation of 29 real estate properties and 2.5 billion drams from former Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan.br/pp

On September 27, the Anti-Corruption Court accepted for consideration another claim of the Prosecutor General's Office for confiscation of property of illegal origin./pp “The Prosecutor General's Office department for confiscation of property of illegal origin submitted a petition to the court to confiscate 29 real estate properties and 2 billion 551 million 100 thousand drams in favor of the Armenian Republic from Hovsepyan and persons related to him,” the report reads./pp

Hovsepyan was arrested in early September 2021. As part of a criminal case being investigated by Armenia's Special Investigation Service. It was confirmed that Hovsepyan received a bribe in a particularly large amount of 190,000,000 drams and fraudulently embezzled 800,000,000 drams. Hovsepyan is also accused of money laundering in a particularly large amount of 1,299,404,414 drams./pp

Earlier it was reported that Hovsepyan, while serving as Armenia's Prosecutor General from March 18, 2004 to September 13, 2013 and being the head of the Investigation Service from July 18, 2014 to June 11, 2018, actually participated in the management of a number of LLCs engaged in business activities./pp

The former Prosecutor General faces charges under the articles “Illegal participation in entrepreneurial activities”, “Receipt of bribe”, “Fraud” and “Legalization of illegally obtained income” of the Armenian Criminal Code. ($1 - 386.93 drams). -0-/p
