Lotito suggested that illegal curves exist and emphasised that football is not for everyone, expressing pride in a recent signing.
Claudio Lotito, speaking to Sky Sport ahead of Lazio’s clash with Nice, addressed a plethora of topics, among which was the club’s transfer market activities.
Discussing Lazio’s managerial decision, Lotito stated, “Football is for everyone, but the higher echelons are for a select few. We assess individuals based on their potential. Baroni was not chosen at random or based on financial considerations; the decision was technically driven. It seems to me that the results today are proving us right.” This was reported by Sky Sport.
On the subject of the ongoing investigations into the behaviour of certain fan groups, he remarked, “I do not know the specifics and will not pass judgment. My stance is clear and has always been so. One must choose between legality and approval; clubs must choose the former, which necessitates the removal of those who exploit football for profit. There are illicit activities happening in the stands that degrade the sport’s value and pose safety issues. Specific regulations are required to prevent such situations.”
When asked about which of the new signings makes him the proudest, Lotito emphasised, “The important decision was to establish a new era for Lazio, founded on merit, athletic and competitive potential, and a drive to achieve results, coupled with the humility of this group. I hope these traits persist throughout the season, as they will surely bring great satisfaction to our supporters.”
Regarding the timing of the transfer window, Lotito commented, “The 20 clubs will decide, with nearly unanimous voting on the matter. We’ll determine the best solution in the interest of football.”
