ArmInfo. Jordan has selected the documentary film "My Sweet land" by Jordanian Armenian director Sarin Hayrapetyan, which is about Artsakh, to compete in the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards.  The film tells the story of 11-year-old Vrezh, who dreams of becoming a dentist in his native Nagorno- Karabakh (Artsakh). When the war begins, the situation escalates and he and his family are forced to flee.

However, they soon return to their war-torn homeland. Faced with new realities and preparing for future trials, the boy struggles with the weight of lost hopes and emotional trauma. The film premiered at the Sheffield Documentary Film Festival in England earlier this year and was then screened at the Amman International Film Festival in Jordan, where it won the Jury Prize for Best Documentary Feature and the FIPRESCI Award for Best Arab Documentary.

The film was selected for the Oscars by a jury led by the Royal Film Commission of Jordan. This debut film by Jordanian director Sarin Hayrapetian is a follow-up to her successful 40-minute documentary project We Are Not Done Yet for HBO, which won several awards.
