Armenia wants to allow import of pesticides from some countries without laboratory checks

YEREVAN, September 24. /ARKA/. Armenian National Assembly Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environmental Protection approved today in the first reading legislative amendments to allow imports of pesticides and agrochemicals from certain developed countries without additional laboratory checks./pp
According to Deputy Minister of Economy Tatevik Sargsyan, these changes are conditioned by the fact that developed countries already have high requirements to the quality of pesticides and agrochemicals, so there is no need to conduct additional inspections when importing them to Armenia./pp
The list of countrieswill be established by the government decision./pp
Earlier there were repeated reports from Russia that high concentration of pesticides was found in agricultural products imported from Armenia. -0-/p
