Эксперт дал советы по выбору вуза
Choosing a higher education institution is a serious step in the life of every graduate. The quality of knowledge, career prospects, brightness of student life and many other things depend on the university. Therefore, it is important to think about the choice of an institution in advance, Alexander Khvostov, director of relations with the educational community of the exhibition "Entry Navigator", told Izvestia on September 24.
"It is important to realize that there are a huge number of criteria for choosing. Everyone has different ideas about student life and different plans. Therefore, first of all, the future entrant needs to think about what is important for him, to prioritize the selection criteria, starting from his future specialty. Perhaps, for a student the university's scientific activity, the availability of laboratories and extracurricular project work are important. For another, international cooperation, foreign teachers, and study abroad may be more important. The choice will depend on what the future student wants to do while studying at the university. In addition, workload, accessibility, infrastructure and other factors may be important," he said.
According to the expert, when choosing a university, it is worth paying attention to the ratings. Usually there are several important criteria that are taken into account when rating universities. This is the demand for graduates: periodically published surveys of employers, which can be used to trace which universities they prefer from year to year. In addition, the level of salary of graduates is also an indicator of demand; it can also be determined by published surveys. The scientific activity of the university, the number of publications, cooperation with other universities, international relations and so on are taken into account.
"In these ratings, one can find the criteria by which universities are evaluated and determine which universities have the highest score on the conditions important for a particular applicant. The higher the overall score, the more prestigious the university as a whole. Ratings of universities are published by agencies and organizations, taking into account different points, so it is worth analyzing the information of several of them," said Khvostov.
After the applicant has selected several suitable universities for himself, it is worth studying each of them in detail to make a final decision, the expert pointed out.
"To do this, you can study the website of the educational institution, go to an open day or a tour, find groups in social networks and communicate with students and alumni, ask them questions. At once a large number of universities allow you to cover educational exhibitions. At them you can get acquainted with both students and teachers, learn all the information you are interested in first hand, get contacts within the university," he concluded.
On September 20, expert Khvostov gave recommendations in a conversation with Izvestia on choosing a college. He pointed out that when choosing an educational institution, one should start by choosing a specialty. Vocational guidance in the form of tests or special courses can help an applicant in this matter. Virtually every college has career days and open-door days, where you can try yourself in different specialties, said the interlocutor of the publication.
