YEREVAN, September 23 /ARKA/. Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of progress in shifting to unified ticket payment system for bus rides.br/pp
Data on the ratio of passengers who pay in cash and via the TelCell electronic wallet were presented at a working meeting at the City Hall on Monday. Thus, last week, out of more than 1.88 million bus passengers, only 44,300 (approximately 2.35%) used the unified system, and among electric transport users, 1,721 out of 100,500 people (approximately 1.7%). The data of the Yerevan Metro is more impressive - out of 560, 075 passengers, 118,450 (approximately 21%) bought a ticket via Telcell.nbsp;/pp
According to Avinyan, the data of the metro demonstrates the need to introduce restrictions on buses and trolleybuses (on cash payment-ed.)./pp “The 1% figure does not satisfy us, and if there is no progress by January 1, the full transition to a single fare payment system may be at risk,” emphasized Avinyan, instructing the responsible services to speed up preparations for the launch of the system./pp
The pilot project for the introduction of a single ticket system for public transport was introduced in September 2023. As part of the main program, special equipment (terminals for tickets via QR code) is installed in buses, metro, trolleybuses. -0-/pp nbsp;/p
