Russia's trade turnover with CIS countries grew by 6.7% in 6 months; Armenia among top three trade partners

YEREVAN, 20 September. /ARKA/. Russia's trade turnover with a number of former Soviet republics belonging to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) grew by 6.7% in January-June 2024 compared to the same period of 2023, with Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia among the top three partners, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said at a meeting of the CIS Economic Council./pp
He said exports grew by 14.8 per cent and imports by 3.7 per cent, Russian state news agency Tass reported./pp
The share of trade with CIS countries in Russia's total trade turnover is 16%, Overchuk specified./pp
In January-June 2024, according to the deputy prime minister, ‘the three main partners of Russia included Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia.’/pp
Overchuk stressed that the Commonwealth countries are aimed at strengthening integration and cooperation in all spheres, despite the foreign policy situation./pp ‘Joint projects in energy, transport, agriculture are being implemented, cultural and humanitarian ties between our countries are developing, the share of settlements in national currencies is steadily growing,’ he concluded.-0-/p
