Pashinyan comments on Azerbaijan’s disagreements over peace treaty

YEREVAN, September 11. /ARKA/. During a government session in Armenia's parliament, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed Azerbaijan's refusal to sign the already agreed points of a peace agreement between the two countries./pp

The first and second drafts of the peace treaty initially contained 18 articles, some of which were removed. For instance, Azerbaijan informed us that they withdrew an article on communications, leaving 17. It's important to clarify that the original document did not contain 30 articles, and we did not remove half of them, Pashinyan said, reiterating his call to sign the already agreed sections./pp

The Prime Minister emphasized that Azerbaijan's refusal to sign the agreement is due to unresolved issues that still need to be addressed in the document./pp

Once we address these issues, will there not be even more important ones? Is the list of critical matters truly exhausted or not? Pashinyan asked./pp

On September 1, Armenia submitted the 10th draft of the peace treaty to Azerbaijan. On September 10, Pashinyan proposed signing the 13 fully agreed articles and the preamble, noting that three other articles had been partially agreed upon./pp

In response, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry rejected Armenia's proposal to sign the agreement while leaving unresolved articles out of the document, calling it unacceptable./pp br/pp br/p
