Armenia FM points out the constructive role of Russia in the  settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations

ArmInfo. Russia has already played a very constructive role - it is a country that managed to reach a ceasefire agreement after the 2020 war. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan noted this during panel discussions  within the framework of the Yerevan Dialogue forum.

He mentioned that Russia initiated the negotiation process by bringing Armenia and  Azerbaijan to the same negotiating table, which later continued at  various locations, including the USA, EU, and with other countries  and partners such as France, Germany, and Kazakhstan.

"I want to thank all these countries that have tried to bring Armenia  and Azerbaijan closer in their positions. However, we are not naive  and understand that the interests of these countries do not always  align with those of the Republic of Armenia, as is the case with  Azerbaijan. I believe that this is an axiomatic truth in theory. And,  nevertheless, it is not necessary for the interests and visions of  Russia and Armenia to coincide," the head of the MFA emphasized.

The Minister noted that he would like to see partners from Russia at  the forum along with significant partners from Luxembourg, Lithuania,  and Iran. "This is exactly what the "Yerevan Dialogue" is about. We  must listen to each othe more, we must take into account and discuss  each other's positions, not just today, although this opportunity is  being created here today. In the same vein, I would like to see my  colleagues from Turkey and Azerbaijan here, "he noted.

According to Mirzoyan, Turkey could play a decisive role in  establishing peace and stability in the South Caucasus for obvious  reasons. In this regard, he recalled that Armenia and Turkey have  launched a dialogue that has been going on for a long time, making  progress in small and large steps, building and strengthening trust.  The Minister noted that the Armenian side is ready to establish  diplomatic relations and open the borders between Armenia and Turkey.  "We have a good mutual understanding and share a vision for the  future of our relations, but at the same time we also experience  certain difficulties," the minister said, noting that the  normalization of relations with Turkey is often tied to the final  settlement of relations with Azerbaijan. Mirzoyan believes that this  is not the most effective way to build relations, as the  normalization process with Turkey will ultimately help relations with  Azerbaijan.  "And, yet, the process continues. Russia, Turkey, Iran,  and other partners, including Lithuania, and Luxembourg can play a  positive role in the normalizing relations between Armenia and  Azerbaijan and bring an era of peace to our region," he emphasized.
