No private company to ensure security of Armenia-Azerbaijan transport  comunications - NA speaker

ArmInfo.The Armenian authorities are discussing a proposal to delegate certain powers to private companies for future transport communications with Azerbaijan. This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan, touching upon the concerns of the Iranian side. 

Tehran is against control of communications in Syunik by representatives of third countries, the Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani recently told journalists, commenting on this possibility.  According to the Iranian ambassador, in accordance with the statement of the Armenian authorities, control at the border points will be carried out by Armenian authorized bodies.

, Sobhani said. He noted that the Armenian authorities are also talking about this - everything will be within the framework of Armenian sovereignty. Thus, we are not talking about handing over the issue of ensuring security to some international company. , Sobhani said.

Despite the fact that no decision has been made on the issue yet, the NA speaker assured that a private company will not be entrusted with ensuring the security of communications. Earlier, political scientist Sergei Melkonyan reported that during the last meeting at the level of foreign ministers, Armenia and Azerbaijan discussed the possibility of transferring control over future communications to an international private security company. 


On September 4, Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan did not rule out the possibility of delegating functions to ensure the security of future transport communications with Azerbaijan to private companies.  According to him, the company will service communications from a security point of view. At the same time, the deputy head of the Foreign Ministry assured that granting the right to protect communications to a private security company does not violate the principle of sovereignty of the country.  project, although there is no direct connection>, - concluded Safaryan, adding that there is not even a preliminary agreement on this.
