Armenia’s electricity production increases by 2.8% in January-July 2024

YEREVAN, September 6. /ARKA/. Armenia produced 5,301.3 million kWh of electricity in the first seven months of 2024, marking a 2.8% increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to the National Statistical Committee./pp

Thermal power plants (TPPs) accounted for the largest share of electricity generation, producing 2,069.3 million kWh, which represented 39% of the total output, though this was a 9.6% decrease from last year. The Armenian Nuclear Power Plant contributed 26.4% of the total, generating 1,397.7 million kWh, an increase of 6.1%. Hydroelectric power stations (HPPs) generated 1,251.0 million kWh, up 13.5%, representing 23.6% of the total output./pp

Solar power stations saw the highest growth, with a 29.8% increase, producing 582.5 million kWh and accounting for 11% of the total. Wind power, however, saw a decline of 39.2%, generating just 0.8 million kWh, representing 0.02% of the total./pp

Since 2023, electricity generated by autonomous producers has been included in the overall production figures, reflecting changes in the national energy landscape./p br
