Armenia`s execution of ECHR judgments discussed in Yerevan
ArmInfo. Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan received a delegation of the Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), headed by the Head of the Human Rights Department of the Council of Europe Claire Ovey.
As reported by the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, issues related to the implementation of ECHR decisions by Armenia and the measures taken in this direction were discussed. Hovhannisyan highly appreciated the Armenia-Council of Europe (CoE) cooperation and the special role of the ECHR, which is an important component of it, in the continuous strengthening of human rights, democracy and the rule of law in the Republic.
The importance of the implementation of ECHR decisions was emphasized both in terms of protecting individual rights and in terms of systemic reforms and advanced training carried out at the state level, which the competent structures of the Republic of Armenia are implementing with the expert assistance of the Council of Europe within the framework of the Armenia-CoE Action Plan. The interlocutors mutually noted the high rates of execution of ECHR decisions by Armenia, confirming their mutual commitment to continue close cooperation formed with the aim of increasing the effectiveness of the execution of ECHR decisions. The discussions of the Council of Europe delegation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continued with the office of the representative of Armenia on international legal issues and officials of the competent departments and structures of the Republic of Armenia.
