Kanguva vs Vettaiyan Dusshera clash averted; Suriya pushes release date to 'respect Rajinikanth's legacy'

Major films clashing at the box office lead to great excitement. The trade that these films generate draw a lot of attention. The second half of 2024 is pretty interesting as a lot of big budget movies are lined up for release. We recently witnessed the clash between Stree 2, Khel Khel Mein and Veda and results are known to all. However, one big clash has now been averted. Kanguva starring Suriya, Bobby Deol and more was set to clash with mighty Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan this Dusshera. Both the films were scheduled to release on October 10. However, Suriya has now confirmed that Kanguva has been pushed to give Vettaiyan a solo release.

During he audio launch of the movie Meiyazhagan, Suriya made the big revelations. He confirmed that all the rumours of Kanguva getting postponed to avert clashing with Rajinikanth's movie Vettaiyan are actually true. To the audience, the ace actor shared that Vettaiyan is releasing on October 10 adding that he feels that Thalaivaa's film should release on the fixed date given his 50-year legacy. "He has been the identity of Tamil cinema, and I hope you will support my decision," Suriya said while addressing the audience. Further, Suriya also spoke about the effort put in to make Kanguva and how everyone should get rewarded for the same by getting a solo release. He was quoted saying, "Kanguva is the efforts of over 1000 people for 2.5 years to deliver a really special film for Tamil cinema. I believe that hard work will not go to waste. I believe you would give the love and respect the film deserves." He is hoping that fans would turn the day into a grand celebration whenever Kanguva releases in theatres. Kanguva directed by Siva is a high-budget film. Reportedly it has been made on a budget of Rs 300 to Rs 350 crore. Though it has been confirmed that the film has been postponed, the new release date has not been confirmed as yet. Will the film's release get pushed to 2025? After Vettaiyan in October, everyone's super excited for Pushpa 2: The Rule in December. Allu Arjun's film too will serve as a major competition to Kanguva in case the makers decide to release in December.
