Ather Energy Collaborates with Google to Enhance Two-Wheeler Charging Accessibility
Ather Energy, has partnered with Google to provide real-time information on two-wheeler fast charging stations. This collaboration will benefit electric vehicle (EV) users with the Light Electric Combined Charging System (LECCS) by enabling them to locate Ather Grid fast chargers directly on Google Maps, complete with live status updates.
Key Features of the Collaboration
Under this new initiative, Ather Grid fast-charging stations are now available on Google Maps, allowing users to access real-time information on the availability of charging points. This update is particularly significant for EV users, as it facilitates the easy location of Ather’s fast-charging infrastructure through a simple search on Google Maps. Users can now search for “EV charger near me” or “charging stations” and find chargers compatible with the LECCS standard.
Moreover, as new chargers are installed, they will be automatically listed on Google Maps, ensuring that users have access to the most up-to-date information. The LECCS plug type has also been officially recognized by Google, allowing users to set it as their default connector type, further streamlining the search process.
Ather Grid and LECCS Standard
The Ather Grid’s fast-charging network is built around the indigenously developed LECCS, a standard approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards for nationwide adoption. Launched last year, the LECCS standard represents a significant step toward creating a universal charging infrastructure in India, promoting greater interoperability across different EV brands and models.
With a growing network of 1,973 fast chargers available as of March 30th, 2024, Ather Energy remains committed to enhancing the charging experience for its customers. The integration of Ather Grid with Google Maps is a continuation of Ather’s efforts to innovate within the EV industry, supported by a strong focus on research and development since its establishment in 2013.
Ather Energy’s Industry-First Innovations
Ather Energy has consistently introduced innovative features, including a touch-screen dashboard, onboard navigation, fast charging, reverse mode, and a mobile app for its electric two-wheelers. More recently, the company has integrated popular consumer technologies like Google Maps navigation, Alexa skills, and WhatsApp notifications into its vehicles, further enhancing the user experience.
This latest collaboration with Google underscores Ather’s commitment to driving the adoption of electric vehicles in India by making charging more accessible and convenient for users nationwide.
