Triumph Motorcycles is all set to unveil its highly anticipated supersport bike in India today, the Daytona 660, Aug 29. Initially slated for an earlier launch this year, the Daytona 660 faced delays, leaving enthusiasts eagerly awaiting its arrival for months.

Classic Supersport Design with Modern Comfort

The Triumph Daytona 660 captures the essence of a classic supersport bike, featuring a full fairing, twin LED headlights, and an aggressive upswept tail section. While its design exudes a fierce and sporty appearance, the ergonomically positioned handlebars and footpegs ensure a comfortable riding experience, making it less aggressive in feel than its looks suggest.

Performance and Technical Specifications

Built on the Trident 660 Roadster platform, the Daytona 660 boasts a more powerful iteration of Triumph’s renowned 660cc inline three-cylinder engine. This engine delivers an impressive 95 hp at 11,250 rpm and 69 Nm of torque at 8,250 rpm, offering 14 hp and 5 Nm more than its naked and adventure-styled counterparts. The bike has Showa suspension, featuring USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear with preload adjustment. Braking is managed by twin 310mm discs at the front and a single 220mm disc at the rear, ensuring reliable stopping power. Additionally, the Daytona 660 comes with three ride modes—Rain, Road, and Sport—and standard dual-channel ABS.

Key Features and Competitors

The Daytona 660 rides on a tubular steel perimeter frame, complemented by a 41mm Showa SFF-BP USD fork and a Showa monoshock, both of which are adjustable for preload. With a 14-litre fuel tank and a wet weight of 201kg, the bike balances performance and practicality. Internationally, the Daytona 660 is priced slightly lower than the Tiger Sport 660, positioning it as a strong contender in the market. Upon its launch, it will compete with the Kawasaki Ninja 650, Aprilia RS 660, and the forthcoming Honda CBR650R and Suzuki GSX-8R. The expected price for the Triumph Daytona 660 in India is estimated to be around Rs 9 lakh to Rs 9.25 lakh, ex-showroom.
