Is Kangana Ranaut, R Madhavan's Tanu Weds Manu 3 happening? Director Aanand L Rai gives an update
In Bollywood, movie franchises have become a popular trend, with recent sequels like Stree 2 and Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba receiving much love from the audience. This success has led many to wonder if the beloved romantic comedy Tanu Weds Manu will also see a third installment. The first film, starring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan, was released in 2011, followed by its sequel, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, in 2015, which further solidified its place in the hearts of fans.
Addressing these speculations, director Aanand L Rai shared that he is aware of the curiosity surrounding a potential third film. He mentioned that the continuation of the story depends entirely on the narrative. "We are working on the story," Rai told Hindustan Times, talking about the responsibility of bringing back the beloved characters with an even more compelling story. He assured that once the story is perfected, they will move forward with the project.
Aanand L Rai also told the Entertainment News Portal that filmmaking is driven by intent. The Zero director explained that while he could begin shooting within three months if the goal was solely to make money, his focus is on delivering a satisfying story to the audience, which requires hard work and dedication. Rai confirmed that efforts are ongoing to ensure the third installment lives up to the expectations set by the second film.
When asked about the pressure of meeting the high expectations set by Tanu Weds Manu Returns, the Raksha Bandhan director said that when they have achieved a hit film, it becomes a significant challenge, and that's an exciting part. He concluded, "But that's the exciting part of our business. You have to handle the responsibility thoughtfully and not let the pressure overwhelm you." It would be interesting to see what happens to Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan's characters in the threequel.
