Skoda Kylaq SUV Spotted Again: Shows Sunroof and More

0

Skoda Auto India recently announced its latest addition to the MQB-A0-IN platform family, the Skoda Kylaq. This new sub-four-metre SUV is set to enter one of India’s most fiercely contested segments, where it will compete with notable rivals including the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Mahindra XUV300, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.

Spy Shots Reveal Key Features

Recent spy shots of the Skoda Kylaq have surfaced, showcasing some of the vehicle’s key features ahead of its anticipated launch early next year. The test mule was spotted on the outskirts of Pune, providing a clear glimpse into what the Kylaq will offer.

One of the standout features visible in these images is the single-pane sunroof, which is likely to be offered on the higher variants of the Kylaq. The SUV also comes equipped with roof rails and a shark fin antenna, adding to its stylish and practical design.

Design and Platform

The Skoda Kylaq draws heavy inspiration from its sibling, the Skoda Kushaq. The SUV’s design features sharp lines and a prominent shoulder line that runs along its side. The angular tail lamp design further complements the vehicle’s modern and dynamic appearance.

Built on the same MQB-A0-IN platform that underpins the Skoda Slavia and Kushaq, the Kylaq promises to deliver a familiar yet refined driving experience. This platform has proven its versatility and robustness in various Skoda models, making it a solid foundation for the new SUV.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the hood, the Skoda Kylaq is expected to feature a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI petrol engine. This engine, which produces 114bhp and 178Nm of torque, is anticipated to be paired with both a six-speed manual transmission and a torque converter automatic unit. This powertrain choice aligns with the vehicle’s sub-four-metre classification, helping it benefit from favorable tax brackets.

Features and Technology

In terms of features, the Kylaq is poised to offer a comprehensive array of amenities. The SUV is likely to include a fully digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Safety and convenience will also be priorities, with potential features including a 360-degree camera, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), electronic stability control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat mounts, up to six airbags, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Launch

The Skoda Kylaq is slated to make its world debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. Production of the vehicle is expected to commence by the end of this year, with sales likely starting in February 2025.
