ArmInfo. The head of the military unit's logistics - deputy brigade commander for logistics and public utilities, Lieutenant Colonel Gor Agekyan, who is involved in the criminal case on the fire and death of servicemen in a temporary barracks in the village of Azat on January 19, 2023, has been released from the courtroom. Lawyer Gurgen Nersisyan wrote about this on his Facebook account.
Fifteen servicemen died in the fire, and three more were taken to the Burn Center with burns. According to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, the cause of the emergency was the use of gasoline to start a fire in the stove. In connection with the fire, two criminal cases were opened: under Part 4 of Article 532 of the Criminal Code (violation of the rules for handling weapons, ammunition, military equipment or other military property, which resulted in the death of two or more persons through negligence) and under Part 3 of Article 550 of the Criminal Code (for signs of negligence resulting in the death of a person). After the tragedy, five high-ranking military personnel were dismissed from their positions - almost the entire command of the 2nd Army Corps. Deputy commander of the military unit for logistics Gor Agekyan (accused of dishonest and negligent attitude to the performance of his official duties) and Captain Yeghishe Hakobyan were arrested.
The defense in this case has sufficient evidence and is convinced that as a result of the trial, Gor Agekyan's innocence will be finally established>, Nersisyan noted.
