RA MoJ: By ratifying the ICC Statute, Armenia confirmed its commitment to combat impunity for the most serious crimes

RA Deputy Minister of Justice Armenuhi Harutyunyan took part in a seminar-presentation on the substantive and procedural law of the International Criminal Court for the key officials of the RA state bodies. This was reported by the RA Ministry of Justice. The Deputy Minister noted that Armenia ratified the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court on October 3, 2023. It entered into force on February 1, 2024. "By ratifying the ICC Statute, Armenia has confirmed its commitment to combating impunity for the most serious crimes that threaten peace and security throughout the world.
"This decision reflects the RA's commitment to the principles of human rights and the rule of law," the Deputy Minister said. She noted that in the processes of ratification and post-ratification of the Rome Statute, cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and international partners is equally important, particularly within the framework of the annual program titled "Support to the Government of the Republic of Armenia in the Post-Ratification Period of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court," launched in cooperation with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This initiative is being implemented by the NGO "Legal Europe" in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, which facilitated the organization of the seminar.
