Maserati GT2 Stradale Unveiled at Monterey Car Week 2024

0

Maserati has taken the wraps off its latest track-inspired marvel, the GT2 Stradale, at the 2024 Monterey Car Week in California. Showcased alongside the North American debut of the MC20 Icona and the track-exclusive MCXtrema, the GT2 Stradale is the road-legal iteration of the Maserati GT2 that first broke cover in July 2023. The Stradale brings a host of upgrades aimed at reducing weight and enhancing performance, all while remaining street-legal.

Under the hood, the GT2 Stradale retains the potent 3.0-liter V6 ‘Nettuno’ engine, now tuned to deliver approximately 640 bhp—an increase of nearly 10 bhp over its track-only counterpart. With a lower kerb weight of just 1,365 kg, the Stradale boasts a blistering 0-100 kph time of 2.8 seconds.

The Stradale’s design takes a more subdued approach compared to the GT2, shedding the racing-inspired graphics for a sleeker, more aerodynamic profile. A new front bumper enhances airflow and cooling, while the car’s aerodynamics have been meticulously refined to generate 500 kg of downforce. Lightweight carbon fiber components reduce mass, and an adjustable rear wing, similar to the GT2’s, maintains high-speed stability. The rear also features a racing diffuser, and the braking system—comprising ventilated discs, calipers, and pads—remains largely unchanged, albeit with a slightly track-biased anti-lock system.

New to the Stradale is the Corsa Evo driving mode, a sophisticated four-level traction control system available with optional performance packs. These packs also include Michelin semi-slick tires, an electronic limited-slip differential, four-point seatbelts, and additional track-focused enhancements.

Inside, the GT2 Stradale mirrors the MC20’s interior layout, featuring a rectangular infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster. Alcantara dominates the cabin, in keeping with the supercar’s luxurious yet performance-oriented nature. The car is equipped with lightweight carbon-fiber racing seats available in two sizes, paired with four-point seatbelts and a sports steering wheel adorned with carbon-fiber paddle shifters.

Maserati CEO Davide Grasso said, “Maserati GT2 Stradale is a product that can fulfil the requirements of the most discerning enthusiasts, a new creation that expresses the brand’s entire essence.”
