Josh is one of the most loved Hindi movies. Released in 2020, the romantic action drama stars Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chandrachur Singh, and Sharad Kapoor. Directed by Mansoor Khan, in the movie, SRK played Max and Aishwarya portrayed Shirley, a sibling duo that captivated audiences. The film is inspired by the famous musical West Side Story.

Initially, Salman Khan was set to be Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's on-screen brother. This surprising fact was revealed by Aishwarya herself in 2018. The actress also mentioned that Aamir Khan was initially considered for the role played by Chandrachur Singh in the movie.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan revealed that the cast was originally meant to be Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. She revealed that, at one point, it was Salman, but eventually Shah Rukh Khan was cast as Max. The Taal actress further stated that Aamir Khan was also going to be a part of it. However, the role was offered to Chandrachur Singh. The blue-eyed diva mentioned how the cast kept changing at different points in time, but what remained constant was her character, Shirley.
Further, the Guzaarish actress said that she said yes to director Mansoor Khan, and when this happened with regards to Josh's casting, Ratan Jain asked if she had doubts. However, Aishwarya told them that at no point she had any doubts, as she was committed to doing the movie because she thought it would be a new and different role for her.
Meanwhile, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Salman Khan worked together in movies like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam (a special appearance). The duo dated during the late 90s and brokeup in 2002. The actress is now married to Abhishek Bachchan, and they have a daughter named Aaradhya.
