Russia supports Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization - Sergei Shoigu
ArmInfo. Russia supports the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. As reported by Azerbaijani media, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu said this at a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku.
He emphasized the successful development of relations between the two countries in the field of regional security, military-technical, transport, and economic areas. He cited the implementation of the North-South corridor as an example, noting that a lot of work is being done in this regard on a trilateral basis.
The meeting discussed prospects for cooperation within the framework of the "3+3" regional platform. In turn, Aliyev noted the importance of regular contacts between Azerbaijan and Russia on regional processes.
Stating that relations between Azerbaijan and Russia are an example for some neighboring states, Aliyev assessed them as an important factor in security in the South Caucasus and the wider region.
