Mercedes-Benz Teases GLC 43 AMG Coupe and CLE Cabriolet Ahead of India Launch
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the first glimpses of its upcoming GLC 43 AMG Coupe and CLE Cabriolet, set to launch in India later this week. These two models are part of the German automaker’s six-car offensive planned for the Indian market over the next five to six months.
CLE Cabriolet: A Stylish Open-Top Experience
The CLE Cabriolet teaser showcases its sleek LED headlamps, inspired by the C-Class sedan. The car’s profile hints at a low-slung stance, accentuated by muscular wheel arches and large alloy wheels. The open-top configuration is evident in the teaser, with the fabric roof retracted to reveal the rear seats.
GLC 43 AMG Coupe: Performance and Style
The GLC 43 AMG Coupe teaser offers a glimpse of its aggressive design, highlighted by the AMG-specific grille with vertical slats and prominent air intakes. The coupe-like roofline is a signature AMG element, complemented by the car’s sporty proportions.
GLC 43 AMG Coupe: Power and Performance
Making a comeback to India after a two-year hiatus, the GLC 43 AMG Coupe undergoes a significant transformation. The new model ditches the previous 3.0-liter inline-six engine in favor of a more potent 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit. This engine delivers an impressive 421bhp and 500Nm of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
CLE Cabriolet: Powertrain Options
Globally, the CLE Cabriolet offers a range of engine options. These include a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine available in two states of tune: the CLE 200 producing 201 bhp and the CLE 300 4Matic delivering 254 bhp. To enhance performance and efficiency, all petrol variants feature a 48-volt mild-hybrid system contributing an additional 22 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. A diesel variant equipped with a 2.0-liter engine is also offered in certain markets. While Mercedes-Benz has yet to confirm the specific variants destined for India, expectations are high for a petrol-powered model.
The CLE Cabriolet, set to be Mercedes-Benz’s largest convertible offering in India, is based on the MRA platform shared with the C-Class. The teaser suggests a sleek and stylish design, with a fabric roof that can be retracted effortlessly. The interior is expected to be luxurious, featuring an 11.9-inch portrait-style infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Both the GLC 43 AMG Coupe and CLE Cabriolet are expected to be priced above Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom) and will be offered as Completely Built-Up (CBU) units.
