While talking to India Today, Mahesh Bhatt stated that Alia Bhatt delivered best performances in movies like Highway and Udta Punjab. Bhatt admitted that the story of Udta Punjab had devastated him. As a father, he was surprised how a girl who was raised in Juhu got the adivasi accent right in the Abhishek Chaubey directorial. Bhatt was astounded by Alia's acting in the 2016 film, which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh.

Further, Mahesh Bhatt said that movies like Highway and Udta Punjab gave Alia the space to be vulnerable and bare her heart. It was a departure for his daughter, who was just a mannequin in Student of the Year. The Sadak 2 director stated how it was an evolution he saw in his child as a father.

Talking about Alia Bhatt's journey, the actress has had big hits and even some flops. But the actress makes sure to choose interesting scripts to keep the audience entertained. Last year, Bhatt worked with Karan Johar after 11 years in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The actress was hailed for her performance.
