Aamir Khan wanted to retire? Junaid Khan reveals, 'Dad was going through this...'
Aamir Khan's last theatrical release was Laal Singh Chaddha. It was a Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood film Forrest Gump, which stars Tom Hanks in the titular role. Advait Chandan directed the Hindi film, which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya. Despite receiving positive reviews from critics, LSC didn't impress the audience much. Hence, it failed to get good numbers at the box office. Two years ago, Aamir's son, Junaid Khan, made his movie debut with the Netflix film Maharaj.

Junaid Khan's Maharaj has received mixed reviews, but many are discussing the important issue it highlights. The movie also faced a delay in its release due to religious controversy, but the movie's team won the case. Further, Aamir Khan's production house backed Kiran Rao's Laapataa Ladies this year. The film has received immense love from the audience since its release on Netflix. The theatrical reception wasn't that good in terms of numbers. While the year has been going well for Aamir and his family, Junaid has made a startling revelation.
In an interview with the Times of India, Junaid Khan shared that his father and superstar Aamir Khan thought of taking retirement. The Maharaj revealed that when he was on a movie set, after he finished Maharaj and Kiran was busy with Laapataa Ladies, the Dangal star was going through his 'I am retiring phase'. Aamir even shared the same with his son and told him to take over the production house.
Junaid Khan revealed that when his dad was going through the 'retiring' phase, he stepped in as he has a decent understanding of production. Junaid believes producing movies is one of the toughest jobs in filmmaking. The actor further added that neither Aamir nor Reena Dutta were anxious about his debut film. They were happy, and Aamir liked the film a lot. Directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra, Maharaj also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Shalini Pandey, and Sharvari.
