Rustam Badasyan: Margara Bridge is ready for operation - we are waiting for a political decision

ArmInfo. The Margara checkpoint has long been ready to serve third-country citizens and individuals holding diplomatic passports. This was stated by Rustam Badasyan, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, during a briefing on August 1. 

When questioned about the start day for operations of the checkpoint, the head of the SRC noted that he did not have that information, outlining that a suitable political decision needed to be made. 

Let us recall that Turkey's special representative in the negotiations on the settlement of relations between Armenia and Turkey, Serdar Kilic, said in January 2023 that Armenia and Turkey had agreed to accelerate the process of opening the border to citizens of third countries. "Regarding the opening of the border for third-country nationals, our minister mentioned in his speech that an agreement had been reached to give new impetus to the work on this issue. The two ministers reached this agreement, and we will do everything possible to start the operation of the Margara bridge as soon as possible," the special representative of Turkey said, presenting the results of the meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Turkey in Ankara.
