Manoj Bajpayee reveals why Sanjay Leela Bhansali will not cast an actor like him in his films or web series

Manoj Bajpayee is one of the most talented actors in India. In his career spanning three decades, the actor has worked with several talented directors like Shekhar Kapur, Ram Gopal Varma, Anurag Kashyap, Yash Chopra, Prakash Jha, Hansal Mehta, and several others. Bajpayee has given some remarkable performances that have time and again proved his versatility. However, there are a few top Indian filmmakers with whom the actor has never collaborated. One of them is Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

In an interview with Radio Nasha, the Aligarh actor got candid about the list of artists he would like to work with. Manoj Bajpayee felt disappointed that he didn't get a chance to work with Gulzar. The actor also wanted to collaborate with Govind Nihalani for movies like Ardh Satya and Aakrosh. However, when Manoj entered the film industry, Govind was making the last of his few films. On the other hand, the actor is elated to get a chance to work with Shyam Benegal for the movie Zubeibaa, which was released in 2001.

Further, Manoj Bajpayee expressed his desire to be in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie. However, he believes that the Devdas director doesn't need actors like him. Manoj jokingly said what beautiful things SLB will show in him. Bajpayee praised the National Award-winning director, saying that his films are unique and he is a filmmaker of his own kind.

Manoj Bajpayee's statements come after the actor earlier revealed that Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted to collaborate with him for Devdas. Released in 2002, Bhansali offered Manoj the role of Chunnilal in the Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer. However, Bajpayee wanted to play the lead role, and things didn't work out. Eventually, Jackie Shroff played Chunnilal in the movie.

Meanwhile, Manoj Bajpayee started the year 2024 with two releases: Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout and Bhaiyya Ji. The actor will be next seen in the movies Despatch and The Fable. He also appeared in the web show Killer Soup this year. The actor is all set to entertain the fans again with The Family Man Season 3 on Prime soon.
