Armenian FM and the President of Cyprus agreed to implement new initiatives in domains of mutual interest

ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has met with the President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides during his working visit to Cyprus.  During a meeting on Monday, July 29, they have discussed the agenda of high-level political dialogue between Yerevan and Nicosia and regional issues.

As reported by the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the interlocutors emphasized the importance of the mutual decision to open resident embassies in Yerevan and Nicosia in terms of expanding the partnership between the two countries, enriching the agenda in new directions and ensuring the continuity of tangible results.

In this regard, Mirzoyan noted Armenia's readiness to implement new initiatives in domains of mutual interest, such as the economy, high technology and tourism. The importance of close cooperation, both in bilateral format and on multilateral platforms between the two countries in the current complicated geopolitical conditions, was emphasized. The parties emphasized joint efforts to further deepen Armenia's comprehensive partnership with the European Union.

In the context of regional developments, Mirzoyan presented Armenia's approaches to the process of normalizing relations with Azerbaijan, including concluding a peace treaty with recognition of each other's territorial integrity, ensuring the continuity of border demarcation based on the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991.  The importance of implementing the Crossroads of Peace project, which has broader regional significance, and issues of cooperation with international partners in this regard were noted as well.
