Honda’s CBR650R and CB650R Hit US with E-Clutch Technology

0

Honda is set to revolutionize the riding experience with the introduction of its innovative E-Clutch technology to select models in the American market. This advanced system, previously exclusive to European models, will now be available on the popular CB650R and CBR650R motorcycles.

The E-Clutch system employs electric motors to seamlessly enable clutchless upshifts and downshifts. While this automation enhances convenience, riders retain full control over the shifting process through the traditional gear shifter. Honda emphasizes that this technology is designed to simplify the riding experience for both novices and experienced riders alike, without compromising the manual shifting option.

Unlike Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), which utilizes a dual-clutch system with preset gears, the E-Clutch offers greater flexibility and can be integrated into existing models with relative ease.

To coincide with the introduction of the E-Clutch, Honda is unveiling the 2024 CB650R and CBR650R models, both featuring the new technology. These updated motorcycles also boast refined styling with LED lighting and a redesigned TFT digital instrument cluster. Powering both models is a familiar 649cc inline four-cylinder engine generating 94bhp and 62.3Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The CBR650R receives additional performance enhancements, including new dual air intakes, revised cam timing, and exhaust tweaks, resulting in a slight power boost to 97bhp.

Honda’s decision to bring the E-Clutch technology to the American market signifies a significant step forward in motorcycle innovation. This advanced feature, combined with the updated CB and CBR models, is poised to elevate the riding experience for enthusiasts across the country.
