Lavash Magic festival takes place in Shirak
ArmInfo. The "Magic of Lavash" festival was held for the second time in the village of Arevik, Shirak region. This was stated in a statement by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia (MOESC RA).
The festival aimed to celebrate Armenian lavash and women bakers, engage youth in preserving cultural heritage, and revitalize the community and promote its sustainable development.
The event became part of the project "Lavash - a symbol of unity and strength" and was dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the inclusion of the tradition of baking lavash in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (2014).
As part of the festival, an exhibition of works by Gyumri artist Levon Arakelyan dedicated to lavash was opened, and his wall paintings (street art) were also presented. In addition, festival guests got acquainted with the works of other artists from Gyumri, Vanadzor, Abovyan, Ayntap and artists forcibly resettled from Artsakh. It is noteworthy that Artsakh cuisine and crafts were presented at the festival in two separate pavilions.
This year, residents of the village of Arevik were also joined by residents of the communities of Aykavan, Atsik, Karmrakar, Bashgyukh, who presented their traditional lavash, bread, agricultural products, dishes and sweets at separate stands.
Various ensembles also performed as part of the festival, dance lessons and master classes were held.
According to the report, the head of the cultural heritage department of the Ministry of Education and Science Astghik Marabyan and the deputy governor of Shirak Anna Martikyan spoke at the opening of the event.
The festival was organized by the Ardin Foundation for the Development of Education, Culture and Tourism. The festival was held with the financial support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.
