Royal Enfield Scrambler 650: Patent Leak and Spyshots Unveil Key Design Elements
Royal Enfield enthusiasts, rejoice! Just after launching the Guerrilla 450, a leaked patent image, courtesy of Bikewale, offers a glimpse of the upcoming Scrambler 650.
Scrambler Spirit with Familiar Engine
Rumored to be called the Bear 650, this new model builds upon the success of the Interceptor 650 with a scrambler-inspired makeover. Expect the same 648cc, parallel-twin engine churning out 47 bhp and 52 Nm of torque. While the engine remains familiar, Royal Enfield might tweak the gear ratios to suit the scrambler’s off-road character.
Spyshots and Patent Image Paint a Clearer Picture
Multiple test sightings alongside the Classic 650 hinted at the Scrambler’s development. Now, with the leaked patent image and near-production spyshots from MotorOctane, suggest a launch could be imminent, possibly at Motoverse 2024.
Distinctive Scrambler Design Elements
Both spy shots and the patent image reveal key design changes:
- Single Exhaust: Ditching the Interceptor’s dual exhaust, the Scrambler adopts a single unit for weight reduction, cost-effectiveness, and a classic scrambler aesthetic.
- LED Lighting Package: Expect a full-LED setup with taillights similar to the Super Meteor 650 and Guerrilla 450-inspired LED indicators. The instrument cluster is likely a TFT unit.
- Off-Road Ready: The Scrambler boasts higher ground clearance for tackling rough terrain.
- Upside-Down Forks: A first for Royal Enfield’s 650cc platform, this suspension upgrade enhances handling.
- Scrambler-Style Handlebars: The handlebar gets a makeover, featuring a brace for added strength and a more upright riding position suitable for off-road maneuvering.
- Dual-Purpose Tires: Look for knobby CEAT tires, likely a 19-inch front and 18-inch rear, for optimal on and off-road performance.
- Scrambler Flair: Side number boards complete the scrambler look and feel.
The Scrambler 650 is expected to be priced at around Rs 3.50 lakh (ex-showroom).Stay tuned for further details as Royal Enfield gears up to officially unveil the much-anticipated Scrambler 650!
