As an actor, Tabu has never shied away from taking risks and playing characters her age. Hence, in Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, instead of getting de-aged, the actress shared that she's glad the makers cast younger actors. In an interview, the Andhadhun star revealed that she isn't a fan of de-ageing or playing younger characters.
In an interview with News18, Tabu expressed her relief when Neeraj Pandey informed her that Shantanu and Saiee would portray the younger roles. The actress believes that sometimes using de-aging technology on actors can look gimmicky, especially if the audience is aware of how old they are. Tabu stated that while the audience has seen the actors' current appearances, the suitability of casting older actors in younger roles depends on the type of film and its context. In some cases, such casting can work without being jarring for viewers, but for Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, it was more effective to cast actors whose ages aligned with their characters.
Furthermore, Tabu stated that even in the past, people used to cast younger actors to play the younger versions of the protagonists. Once the character grows up, we will see Dharmendra or Dilip Kumar play the adult version. In the same interview, Tabu revealed that she doesn't want to play a 30-year-old anymore in movies. She has no option but to embrace her age.
