Pashinyan: democracy should not be perceived as shaky witch, but as elegant guest
ArmInfo.Over the past 6 years, many achievements have been recorded that are related to the formation and development of democracy in Armenia. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at the Armenian Forum for Democracy on July 1.
In particular, according to him, the phrase "falsification of election results" can already be attributed to the historical genre, and this is a very important point. The Prime Minister noted that today many of the country's highways have been brought into line with international standards, and this fact is news to citizens only for the first week, after which this fact becomes commonplace. The same applies to elections.
Another problem concerns the freedom to hold rallies and demonstrations, especially in terms of restricting them to a certain territory 7 years ago. Today, according to Pashinyan, such a problem simply does not exist. At the same time, the Prime Minister pointed to the circumstance related to the quality of holding national elections, which has not yet been recorded at the level of local authorities.
The Prime Minister believes that there is no pressure or use of force against freedom of speech or the media in the country. "In general, democracy should not be perceived as a shaky witch, but as an elegant guest," the head of the Armenian government said.
He emphasized that the ideas of democracy voiced by the ruling Civil Contract party, in 2015 continue to be relevant today. Democracy is not a reality caused by circumstances, but a strategy that the government and the ruling majority will adhere to. "It is very important to emphasize that democracy has taken root in Armenia, and the international community increasingly perceives our country as part of the democratic world," the head of government emphasized. He expressed hope that the forum would record the political will of the country's authorities for the further development of democratic institutions and would determine the directions for their development and strengthening.
