YEREVAN, 17 June. /ARKA/. The term of house arrest of Armenia's former Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan has expired. The ex-minister was placed under house arrest by a local court on 16 February. Kerobyan is a defendant in a criminal case on abuse of official powers in the ministry.br/pp
The investigation of the criminal case is nearing completion, and my initial position that it is bogus and pursues a completely different agenda has only been strengthened. I look forward to seeing how the charges against honest and incorruptible people, those whose motivation is selfless work for the good of Armenia, and not contrived mass indifference, will be 'formed', Kerobyan wrote on his Facebook page./pp
He said he would seek the acquittal of himself and all other defendants, who were bent by the law enforcement system and forced into a scenario of termination of criminal prosecution on the basis of ''repentance''./pp
Earlier this month, the Armenian Prosecutor's Office dropped criminal charges against six suspected ministry officials (including former Deputy Economy Minister Ani Ispiryan) as part of a corruption investigation. Another ministry employee was cleared of all charges. .-0-/p
