Martakert mayor detained

0

ArmInfo. At night, it became known that the mayor of Martakert, Misha Gyurjyan, had been detained  by the Armenian authorities.

As human rights activist Ruben Melikyan said on his Facebook page, the same scheme was taken against the mayor of Martakert as previously against the head of Askeran. The latter was put under house arrest allegedly "for embezzlement."

According to Melikyan, the Armenian authorities detained the mayor of Martakert on suspicion of fraud, but here again political motives emerge.

"The same story is repeated with the detention of the mayor of Askeran, the mayor of Martakert brought with him a car belonging to the city, the police demanded a decision from the Council of Elders  in connection with its registration in Armenia, and this was  characterized as fraud. Now the question arises, is it fraud or  extortion, who is victim, whether they protect the interests of  Azerbaijan or protect the interests of the Martakert community,  stolen by Azerbaijan. In both cases, not a single resident of  Martakert or Askeran voiced this problem. These people took on a  shameful order, and the only goal, naturally, is political, because  for several days. ago, Archbishop Bagrat met with the authorities of  Artsakh. What a vile order we are dealing with!" noted the human  rights activist.

Melikyan believes that with these arrests and detentions the  authorities are trying to isolate community leaders ahead of the  rally planned for May 26.

Earlier, at various levels, representatives of the Armenian  government threatened the people of Artsakh for participating in  rallies of the "Tavush for the Motherland" movement, which demands  the resignation of the current prime minister of the country. The  authorities threatened to deprive Artsakh residents of the benefits  they currently receive from the state budget.
